1874

 

Company Established by Andrew Hingley Snr., who was a stone mason by trade . He had been operating as a builder and joiner in Duffield, undertaking many local projects, many stone houses still standing in Duffield were built by him. The need for timber in his building work led him to establish a sawmill producing sawn timbers for his own use.

 1919

 

Andrew Snr. was joined at the end of the Great War by his son Andrew Jnr. Timber in these days was extracted and hauled to the nearest Railway sidings from many of the estates - Chatsworth, Haddon, Kedleston, Belvoir Castle, to arrive by rail at the Sawmill at Duffield. In 1916 the company employed 52 people. 

 1927

 

Andrew Snr. died and in 1945, Andrew Jnr. was joined by his son Guy, father and son ran the business, cutting timber for local builders, farmers and the Coal industry. 

 1974

 

Becomes Limited Company. 

 1986

 

Guy died, leaving the business to be run by John and Richard, who continue to manage the company to date. 

 1999

 

Company moves to larger site at Hazelwood, 10 acres, a new sawmill and upgraded equipment.
